my place is your place
Barili is a 3rd class municipality in the province of Cebu, Philippines. According to the 2007 census, it has a population of 60,430 people. Barili is located 61 kilometers southwest of Cebu City. It is bounded on the south by the municipality of Dumanjug; on the north by the municipality of Aloguinsan; on the east by the municipalities of Carcar and Sibonga; and on the west by the Tañon Strait. It is the hometown of the Aguilar, Lozada, Paras and Zoza families.
History
The word Barili comes from the name of a local grass called balili. The municipality was founded in 1632, though the parish of Barili was established in 1614. A cross was planted by Spaniards led by Captain Juan Juarado at their arrival at 1602, and still exists today.
Economy
The economic output of Barili is mainly rice, maize, bananas, and coconuts.
Mantayupan Falls is Barili’s Jewel and considered to be the highest waterfalls in the entire province of Cebu which is located in the far municipality of Campangga, Barili. And unlike the famous Kawasan Falls, Mantayupan Falls is considered to be best well-preserved waterfalls in the entire island of Cebu with its three step-like descending falls.
The waterfalls weren’t open to public during the past years since the locals use this as their source of energy and water supply for the nearby farms fields. But for tourism’s sake, they now allow visitors. Their entrance fee is at Php 10.00 per head. Vehicles can be parked for about Php 20.00. Cheap eh? This is probably just for maintenance – they’ve been preserving the majestic place. And after all, its worth seeing and experience the fresh cool water.
Once there, this is just a bonus part, you probably will see lots of cameramen bringing their super sexy models taking their clothes off lolz. But be careful to watch your steps in the pave way while watching these ladies.
Anyway, to get to Mantayupan Falls, you can just ride a bus to Barili from North/South Bus terminal of Cebu. And from Barili Bus stop, you won’t be lost anymore since there are lots of vehicles going Barangay Campangga where Mantayupan Falls resides. While you’re there, you might just visit some other destinations of Barili like Bolocboloc Hot Springs and the Paradise Valley Mountain Resort.
